“Marijuana Finally Legalized” Should Be The Headline

Reprinted with permission by Caz Loth.

“Marijuana finally legalized,” is the headline that should be appearing on the front page of newspapers across the country instead of, “The biggest bust in the county,” or “$100K seized in pot bust.” One of the most diversely useful plants on the planet has been co-opted by governments to make money. That’s the simple explanation. Its one more lesson in control when free beings can be told how to self medicate by a power that is out mostly for its own good and often to the detriment of its citizens. How we have allowed a small group of individuals, police, lawyers, judges, correctional facilities and drug dealers to monopolize the benefits of this extremely valuable plant through prohibition is hard to understand.

No government should be able to regulate what plants the citizens of the planet use. All the plants on the planet were… Continue reading

On Mother’s Day, 2013, A Marijuana Mom Goes to Jail

Nashville, TN - The original U.S. Mothers’ Day was an 1870 protest against injustice and war.
The U.S. has more people in prison than any country in the world because of an unjust U.S. Drug War - which includes arrests for medical marijuana in TN.

This Mother’s Day, Sunday May 12th, mother, midwife, college instructor and grandmother Marilyn Green will be ” kidnapped” by the state of TN and forced into prison for growing medical marijuana that her husband Gerry has used for degenerative disc and back pain from an accident.

Show your support for Marilyn Greene Campbell on Facebook. She also has a Save The Campbell’s FB site where you can sign a petition on her behalf . You can also reach her directly at [email protected], or 615-848-5557.

Hamilton County TN Grand Jury Recommends Legalizing Pot

court-says-no-to-dispensary-bans-thumb-325x325CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) - Legalizing marijuana is always a hot topic and for the first time in history, national research shows the majority of people in favor of it.

The Hamilton County Grand Jury for the first quarter of the year just concluded. After hearing more than 600 cases, they submitted recommendations to Judge Rebecca Stern, that they think would improve the county’s criminal justice system.

That’s standard procedure, but there’s one recommendation that’s getting a lot of attention and it has to do with legalizing certain amounts of marijuana.

Tennessee is one of 26 states that makes no exception to marijuana; medical or recreational, it’s against the law.

“I don’t think it should be legalized because our people are acting foolish enough right about now, so just adding it to make it legal, everybody would be trying to get it then and we don’t need it,” Chattanooga resident Kathryn… Continue reading

Why NORMLTN? Let’s Look At Our Mission Statement!

NORMLTN’s core committee will meet today 4/28/13 to discuss ways to strengthen our organization, place skilled members in key positions and how we can more effectively work to recruit talented, responsible and dedicated people like yourselves.

From the mission statement, which is the “why” our organization exists, we get to the “how do we do it” through our 501c3 charter, bylaws, then to questions like, “What are the skills we need to achieve these things?”

That skill search will point us to people with the talent and passion to make things happen. Could that be YOU? We sure hope so.

One of the challenges of being a marijuana activist is staying anonymous while still being effective in helping our organization to change the medical marijuana laws (and then others too, if we do it right!) in TN

Sooooooo in our upcoming June Board Elections, we have the opportunity to look… Continue reading

NORMLTN’s First 4/20 Education Celebration A Success!

Highlights included a well attended panel discussion with Rep. Sherry Jones, Law Enforcement Against Prohibition’s Erin James, Author Constance Gee and others with NORMLTN President Doak Patton moderating.
