“Marijuana Finally Legalized” Should Be The Headline
Reprinted with permission by Caz Loth.
“Marijuana finally legalized,” is the headline that should be appearing on the front page of newspapers across the country instead of, “The biggest bust in the county,” or “$100K seized in pot bust.” One of the most diversely useful plants on the planet has been co-opted by governments to make money. That’s the simple explanation. Its one more lesson in control when free beings can be told how to self medicate by a power that is out mostly for its own good and often to the detriment of its citizens. How we have allowed a small group of individuals, police, lawyers, judges, correctional facilities and drug dealers to monopolize the benefits of this extremely valuable plant through prohibition is hard to understand.
No government should be able to regulate what plants the citizens of the planet use. All the plants on the planet were… Continue reading
Hamilton County TN Grand Jury Recommends Legalizing Pot
CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) - Legalizing marijuana is always a hot topic and for the first time in history, national research shows the majority of people in favor of it.
The Hamilton County Grand Jury for the first quarter of the year just concluded. After hearing more than 600 cases, they submitted recommendations to Judge Rebecca Stern, that they think would improve the county’s criminal justice system.
That’s standard procedure, but there’s one recommendation that’s getting a lot of attention and it has to do with legalizing certain amounts of marijuana.
Tennessee is one of 26 states that makes no exception to marijuana; medical or recreational, it’s against the law.
“I don’t think it should be legalized because our people are acting foolish enough right about now, so just adding it to make it legal, everybody would be trying to get it then and we don’t need it,” Chattanooga resident Kathryn… Continue reading
They Came to Change the Law: NORMLTN March Meeting at Sunset Grill
They Came to Change the Law: NORMLTN March Meeting at Sunset Grill
The March 2013 monthly meeting of NORMLTN featured about 30 new and returning activists willing to change the laws in TN. We heard from Rev. Aaron Colyer, founder of Tennesseans for Medical Canabis Now, who will visit several state legislators on Tuesday March 5th, MTSU student, Alex, working on showing the film, “Breaking the Taboo” at the college, and the comedian, Neal, who’s preparing a medical marijuana benefit show at The End April 9th and 23rd.
We also went around the room and heard from old and new members discussing why they’ve come. Answers ranged from vets who’d rather smoke for medical reasons than take pharmaceuticals with harmful side effects, to those who want the laws changed so they don’t have to fear persecution and risk losing job, house and freedom if they use marijuana.
We gathered suggestions for improvement,… Continue reading
Marilyn & Gerry Campbell Medical Marijuana Trial Continues Into March 2013
On Monday, February 4, 2013, at the Nashville TN Federal Courthouse, the Marilyn and Gerry Campbell Medical Marijuana trial continued on to March 18, 2013 because the judge wants to explore the federal guidelines, technicalities and sentencing on a number of issues; size of the plants, the guns found in their country home and if the ‘safety valve’ applies in their case.
When I met Marilyn in the hallway outside the courtroom that Monday, she said, “Google The Price of Pain and my name for more info on the story”. So here’s an excerpt below. The Barbra mentioned in the story is Marilyn’s daughter, Barbara Broads, a business owner in Woodbury, TN. Marilyn is on the agenda to speak at our next NORMLTN meeting, Sunday February 10th, 2 p.m. at the Sunset Grill in Nashville.
Shattered glass.
Gerry Campbell had a horrible accident in 1999. He ran off the Auburntown Road… Continue reading
Marijuana restrictions: Appeals court backs DEA, rejects pot advocates argument

A marijuana starter plant is shown at Canna Pi medical marijuana dispensary in Seattle on Nov. 20
By Pete Williams, Justice Correspondent, NBC News
Advocates of looser federal restrictions on marijuana suffered a significant legal setback Tuesday, as a panel of three judges found that the federal government acted properly in refusing to loosen restrictions on pot.
Pro-marijuana groups and a disabled veteran who said it improves his medical condition asked the Drug Enforcement Administration to put marijuana on a lower tier of federal restrictions. They said the agency was ignoring a growing body of scientific evidence that it has some medical benefits. When the DEA refused, they sued.
But by a 2-1 vote, a panel of the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia said Tuesday that the DEA did consider all the available information. “We find nothing in the record that could move us to conclude… Continue reading
