Marijuana Medicine Brings Relief and Hope
Glenn Christman has been taking care of Nashville area trees for 30 years as The Gentle Arborist.
” Arborculture is the care of trees, speaking for the tree in the work that needs to be done, from feeding and installation to removal with big cranes - that’s my job.” he says.
We’re sitting in his living room and Glenn’s on a couch which is now his bed and office, situated with computer, phones, trays and medicines around him as he continues to work through his illness. Glenn is also an herbalist and has used both modern chemo therapy/radiation and alternatives in his pursuit of health and recovery.

“I was diagnosed in January of 2011 with prostate cancer, which had already metastasized, mostly to my sacrum. So I did a year of natural and home remedies, seemed to be getting… Continue reading
Marilyn & Gerry Campbell Medical Marijuana Trial Continues Into March 2013
On Monday, February 4, 2013, at the Nashville TN Federal Courthouse, the Marilyn and Gerry Campbell Medical Marijuana trial continued on to March 18, 2013 because the judge wants to explore the federal guidelines, technicalities and sentencing on a number of issues; size of the plants, the guns found in their country home and if the ‘safety valve’ applies in their case.
When I met Marilyn in the hallway outside the courtroom that Monday, she said, “Google The Price of Pain and my name for more info on the story”. So here’s an excerpt below. The Barbra mentioned in the story is Marilyn’s daughter, Barbara Broads, a business owner in Woodbury, TN. Drug Film Big Success
Did you know that the U.S. has the highest prison rate per capita than any other nation in the world?
That half of the people in U.S. prisons are non-violent drug offenders? And that while African Americans are only 17 percent of the U.S. Population they make up 50 percent of those people in U.S. prisons today? According to one speaker in the film, In This House, The U.S. Drug War is a slow motion Holocaust and its victims are the poor.
There was a recent screening of this film on Saturday Feb 9th in Nashville, sponsored by the Federal Public Defender’s Office, which also hosted a panel with a Federal Dudge, Assistant District Attorney and Prosecutor after the film. Kudos to the organizers and those who attended.
The discussion was lively at the packed Looby Theater in Nashville that day. The message from those Federal panel members was to get out and… Continue reading
“Stimulate the Debate” says DC NORML
” Go to our website, norml.org, then click ACT on the right. It’ll take you to Capwiz, to enter your zip code for your state representatives,” said Paul Armentano, National NORML Director, to NORML chapters leaders across the U.S. on a recent conference call. “This is an example of how the national office can stimulate states.” Armentano says letters and calls will bring the issue forward in lawmakers’ minds.
In states with bills pending, there are pre-written letters for NORML supporters to send or amend and send. ”Most lawmakers prefer hearing from local people, ” he said, “The best delivery of our message is you, not someone flying in from DC.”
This will be a banner year for more reform bills than ever in Congress. In addition to legislative actions, local city ordinances have a good chance to raise awareness. Letters to the editor were also mentioned as good ways… Continue reading
Massachusetts becomes the 18th medical marijuana state
Massachusetts becomes the 18th medical marijuana state; now comes the difficult work of implementation.
Earlier this month, an overwhelming sixty-three percent of Massachusetts voters approved Ballot Question 3 and, in so doing, became the country’s 18th state to pass a medical marijuana law. Massachusetts is now the latest in a growing number of states that are choosing to implement their own public health laws, regardless of any reluctance by the Obama Administration to develop a comprehensive federal policy on medical marijuana. But, getting Massachusetts voters to turn out in sufficient numbers to pass Ballot Question 3 was only the first step in what is expected to be a lengthy implementation process. The Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) has 120 days after the law is enacted on January 1, 2013 to design regulations that will help DPH implement the law. However, until the program is up and running, patients can… Continue reading |

A San Diego judge says its OK to purchase pot.
Medical marijuana news can leave you in a haze. Let’s sort out the latest:
First, federal prosecutors Thursday said agents arrested a dozen people associated with a chain of nine marijuana dispensaries in Los Angeles and Orange Counties on drug trafficking charges.
“Most of the stores previously were the subject of search warrants executed in 2010 and 2011,” read a statement from the U.S. Attorney’s office. “Most of the nine stores are now closed, but several are believed to still be in operation.”
Prosecutors allege one dispensary - Safe Harbor Collective in Dana Point - made $2.5 million in 2009. Shop owner John Melvin Walker allegedly told his bookkeeper “to destroy all records pertaining to income.” He also allegedly possessed an AK-47, and nearly $400,000 in cash. Walker’s… Continue reading
