Marilyn Green Campbell & Gerry Campbell - The Return To Jail
Day 1 The Return To Jail
It was a beautiful Thursday in September. The kind of day that makes you yearn for the outdoors. We were instead heading for jail. It was an interesting convoy as we snaked through town. Leading the procession were Gerry, Spunky and I. We were being driven By our newest bail bonds person, Gerry’s cousin Judy. Behind us was our daughter Barbara driving her big loud truck. She was followed by my in-laws John and Marion and bringing up the rear was Kim from The Cannon County Wire our local on-line link to news.
Kim had already written several stories about our situation. The longest was an interview with Barbara entitled “The Real Million Dollar Bust.” It must have been an interesting site to the prisoners standing and peering out the small windows of the top bunks. As soon as the hugging was done and… Continue reading
Let’s Visit Washington’s Marijuana Bar
Russell Diercks smokes marijuana inside Frankie’s Bar and Grill in Olympia

Special to Toke of the Town
I walked up the stairs, eager with anticipation, as the wonderful reality of what I was about to do sent happy shivers up my spine. This was my second time going up these stairs, but I was just as eager as my first.
I took my last, deep, breath of fresh air and walked through the door into the bar. My nose was immediately assaulted by the rancid smell of tobacco smoke, but I knew I wouldn’t have to deal with that for much longer.
Biblical Thoughts from Justin Morrison, NORMLtn’s VP
Is it really true that the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations? (Revelation 22:2)
Is it really true that the leaves are for medicine? (Ezekiel 47:12)
Is it really true that the anointing oil breaks the yoke of our bondage? (Isaiah 10:27)
Is it really true that Jesus taught his apostles to anoint the sick with oil? (Mark 6:13)
Is it really true that a plant God gave us that has tons of potential to do good isn’t allowed due to greed, hate, and racism? Is it really true that Matthew 7:18 says A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit.
Is it really true that the field is wasted and the oil fails? (Joel 1:10)
Is it true that oil might be a desirable treasure for a wise man? (Proverbs 21:20)
Is it true that God will… Continue reading
“Stimulate the Debate” says DC NORML
” Go to our website, norml.org, then click ACT on the right. It’ll take you to Capwiz, to enter your zip code for your state representatives,” said Paul Armentano, National NORML Director, to NORML chapters leaders across the U.S. on a recent conference call. “This is an example of how the national office can stimulate states.” Armentano says letters and calls will bring the issue forward in lawmakers’ minds.
In states with bills pending, there are pre-written letters for NORML supporters to send or amend and send. ”Most lawmakers prefer hearing from local people, ” he said, “The best delivery of our message is you, not someone flying in from DC.”
This will be a banner year for more reform bills than ever in Congress. In addition to legislative actions, local city ordinances have a good chance to raise awareness. Letters to the editor were also mentioned as good ways… Continue reading
Cannabis Education at Cancer Runs
Cheyenne Weldon, a presenter at the SE NORML Conference in Nashville last December, shows a t-shirt her chapter designed (see photos) for participants at a Texas Cancer run. Weldon’s creation is a good example of opportunities we as users, activists and educators can explore as agents of change. To reform harsh marijuana laws and share the positive benefits of cannabis, educating non-pot smokers is vital to the movement.
I was impressed with the idea of choosing cancer runs (which nobody would oppose) as a vehicle to enlighten others. The front of the shirt says, “Team Hope Through Cannabis”, and the back of the shirt says, “THC Hope for…
